Metroid Fusion is Samus' first
game on the Game Boy Advance and takes place after
the happenings of Super Metroid in which she defeats
the mother brain for a second time which results
in the destruction of Planet Zebes where the space
pirates were based.
In Metroid Fusion Samus is infected
with a parasitic life form referred to as the "X
Parasites" on SR388 which later matures and causes
her to loses her special suit which had to be
removed. Samus loses all but the most basic of
her special abilities and spend the majority of
the game investigating the parasite threat in
the different areas of space lab which studies
life or SR388 infested by the same parasites.
She
soon realises that the parasite also has mimicking
abilities and that when it infected her
suit it copied her abilities when she is at her
most powerful and so the "SA-X" (Samus Aran X parasite)
was born. Metroid Fusions although a bit linear
offers small peaks into the life of Samus and does
well to expand the story surrounding Samus her life
in the federation and more.
