Super Metroid for the Super
Nintendo was released in 1994 and is widely regarded
as one of the most extraordinary games of it's
time. It continues right after the happenings of
Metroid II is which Samus eradicates the metroid
species and then leaves the only survivor at the
space station Ceres for scientific research. Not
long after leaving the station Samus receives a
distress signal from the said station, returns
to investigate, runs into her old nemesis Ridley
and thus the game begins.
Samus follows Ridley back to
Zebes where she had defeated the space pirates
once before and realizes that they have rebuilt
their base and has restarted their research into
the metroid life form. Samus then proceeds to defeat
the four semi leaders of the space pirates Kraid,
Phantoon, Draygon and Ridley to unlock passage
into the rebuilt base where she faces off against
the mother brain once again who nearly defeats
Samus but Samus is saved at the last minute by the metroid creature who is
then attacked and killed by Mother Brain. Samus (empowered
by the metroid creature) defeats mother brain a
second time before escaping Zebes which is completely
destroyed by a time bomb activated when mother
brain was defeated.
