Metroid: Zero Mission is in
some ways a remake of the original Metroid game
for the Nintendo Entertainment System and the second
game in the metroid series to be released on the
the Game Boy Advance.
Being somewhat a remake or reintroduction
of the Metroid game and formula much of the areas
and music in Zero Mission is similar to that of
the original Metroid but many new or enhanced items
and features have been added to the environments
to give a new feel to the original. Staple foes
like Ridley, Kriad and the Mother Brain are present
along with new equally challenging foes.
Metroid: Zero Mission is also
the first Metroid game to allow the player in certain
sequences to play as Samus without her trademark
futuristic cybernetic suit of armour and it's abilities.
The story of the original Metroid is also elaborated
on somewhat, for example it is confirmed that the
Chozo once lived Zebes which better explains the
various ruins present on the planet
